GM’s Mary Barra: “EV Adoption in Luxury Segments is More Resilient”
General Motors CEO Mary Barra provided product updates alongside the automaker’s Q1 2024 results this week. The company reported a strong set of first quarter financial results that beat analyst expectations, with company revenue up by 8% year-over-year to $43 billion.
In GM’s EV business, the Ultium Cell plant in Spring Hill, Florida, continues to ship cells and scale-up production.
The Chevrolet Equinox EV will be arriving in showrooms this quarter. “We’re very excited,” Barra said. It will be the “most affordable long-range EV in the market”, offering Super Cruise like all of Chevrolet, GMC and Cadillac EVs on the Ultium platform, she added.
New Jersey Fleet Targets Truck Emissions with Renewable Diesel
New Jersey Natural Gas (NJNG) is switching to Neste MY Renewable Diesel for medium-duty trucks and associated equipment to help further reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in its fleet.
Approximately 70 medium-duty trucks in NJNG’s fleet now run on Neste MY Renewable Diesel. These vehicles account for approximately 57,000 gallons of renewable diesel which is estimated to reduce GHG emissions by up to 550 tons annually.
Neste MY Renewable Diesel can be used in its neat form or blended with fossil diesel at any ratio. It also performs well in extreme cold conditions and can be stored over long periods of time.

Tesla Promises Semi Truck Production to Begin in Late 2025
Tesla Inc.’s touted Class 8 Semi tractor is likely to begin rolling off the company’s Reno, Nev., production line late next year, according to a senior executive.
Production of the Semi, proclaimed to be an industry-changing tractor when unveiled by Tesla CEO Elon Musk in 2017, originally was due to begin in 2019. Musk promised a battery-electric truck with a 500-mile range.
Austin, Texas-based Tesla — which made headlines earlier in the week by revealing the largest job cuts in the company’s history — expects the first customers to start receiving the long-awaited Semi in early 2026, the executive revealed.
ChargePoint Releases an Enhanced Integrated Charging Experience for Fleets En-Route and At Home
ChargePoint announced enhancements to its software offering which enables electric and mixed fuel fleets to find, use, and pay for charging from a single application, including seamless driver reimbursement when they charge their company EV at home.
