Bollinger Motors, an electric commercial vehicle manufacturer, has announced the sale of five all-electric Class 4 Bollinger B4 commercial trucks to Spencer Manufacturing, a leading upfitter of rescue and fire trucks.
Spencer Manufacturing will convert these trucks into emergency rescue vehicles once Bollinger Motors begins production in the latter half of 2024.
Jim Connelly, chief revenue officer for Bollinger Motors, expressed excitement about the collaboration: “Durability, reliability, and outstanding performance are critical for public safety vehicles, and we are proud that Spencer Manufacturing is putting its trust in the Bollinger B4.”
Cox Automotive today announced that it plans to open its fifth Auto Tech Training Center (ATTC) later this year.
The new center, which will be located in Chicago, joins four other training centers housed at Manheim locations in Southern California, Central Florida, New Jersey and Dallas.
“Beyond getting vehicles ready for wholesale or retail sale, our high-quality ATTCs position us to support our clients as vehicle technologies become more sophisticated,” said Marty D’Amato, vice president of Reconditioning at Manheim.

California’s bold move to adopt the Advanced Clean Fleets (ACF) regulation last year marked a significant step toward reducing emissions from commercial vehicles, setting a precedent that could influence national standards. Adopted by the California Air Resources Board (CARB) in October 2023, the ACF regulation targets zero-emission vehicle (ZEV) adoption in fleets, aiming to mitigate air pollution and combat climate change.
The EPA’s upcoming public hearing on August 14, 2024 is anticipated to shed light on the regulatory path forward. Stakeholders, including environmental advocates, industry representatives, and policymakers, will have the opportunity to voice their perspectives on the ACF regulation’s merits and implications.
The national average for a gallon of gas rose three cents to $3.54 from last week. The slight nudge higher came despite Hurricane Beryl smacking into the coast of Texas, a record number of July 4th car travelers, and oil costs hovering above $80 per barrel.
“The damage from Beryl caused limited damage to Gulf Coast energy facilities,” said Andrew Gross, AAA spokesperson. “And while a record 60 million travelers were forecast to hit the highways for the July 4th holiday, the overall demand number for gasoline dropped. That is a rare feat for a holiday week and may point to a change in demand trends.”
