Working with vendors is a partnership, and both sides need to work together to create a win-win situation for all involved.
There are many avenues of learning in our industry. NAFA pioneered formal fleet education with its gold standard CAFM/CAFS Certification programs. Conferences, webinars, seminars, white papers and case studies offered by fleet industry associations and suppliers are abundant.
Mercury Associates’ Adlore Chaudier has this to say in his comprehensive piece The Importance of Continuous Education for Fleet Personnel: “Fleet management increasingly requires a 360-degree communication and education outreach effort, embracing not only supervisors and management as well as technicians and specialists, but also customers and vendors as well as drivers and operators.”
Ben Langley of Driving Dynamics looks at another aspect of education in Training and Coaching: Each Has a Role to Play in Maintaining a Safe Fleet. Langley says, “Understanding the distinction will positively impact the effectiveness of your driver safety program.”
Advancing our industry through research, education, partnerships and scholarships is the mission of the NAFA Foundation. Please consider sharing your love of fleet this summer by supporting their good works.

Interest in mobility solutions is increasing but few businesses would be willing to give up their company cars and use a mobility solution instead.
That’s according to new research from Arval that finds the company car looks set to remain the core transport method for the foreseeable future.
The research, part of the 2019 edition of Arval Mobility Observatory which saw some 3,930 fleets surveyed, saw fleets asked whether they would fully or in part give up their vehicle for a range of alternatives; just 7% of fleets said they would probably or certainly opt instead for car sharing, 9% for ride sharing, 8% for a mobility budget, 11% for a private lease vehicle and 7% for mid-term rental.

China is not only the world’s biggest auto market, it also is the biggest market for electric vehicles. China pivots away from subsidizing battery-electric vehicles, and is putting its government money on hydrogen.
The strategy is bearing fruit for persistent hydrogen-booster Toyota. The Japanese carmaker says it will supply key fuel-cell technology to China’s FAW and Higer Bus. Both are major players in the truck and bus segment.
