We mourn the loss of Philip Procida who passed away on June 7, 2024. A 2016 inductee to the Fleet Hall of Fame, Phil retired from ARI in 2005 after serving 44 years with the company. Ed Pierce, FMW’s Brand Acceleration, said, “Phil Procida and I worked together at ARI for several years, along with many others, developing the company’s pioneering global fleet management program. He was a helpful mentor to me. He brought a combination of patience and persistence as ARI addressed the growing need of large ARI customers for global fleet management support. His efforts to build ARI’s presence in Canada, secure a European partner, and launch ARIZA in Mexico in collaboration with the Zapata organization are true milestones in the history of the Holman organization.”

The Jeep Wagoneer is the only model out of three popular large SUVs tested to qualify for a 2024 TOP SAFETY PICK award. Other bestsellers, the Chevrolet Tahoe and Ford Expedition, fell short for multiple reasons, including subpar performance in the small overlap front crash test.
“The huge mass of these large SUVs provides some additional protection in crashes with smaller vehicles, though that also means they present more danger to other road users,” IIHS President David Harkey said. “The flip side of their large size is that there is a lot more force to manage when they crash into a fixed obstacle like a tree or bridge abutment or the barrier we use in our front crash tests.”
Powered by 40 billion miles of new driving data from 2023, Lytx’s 2024 “State of the Data” report identifies heightened levels of risk on the roads and a greater urgency for fleets to decrease unsafe driving behaviors.
The U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) announced approximately $480 million in Motor Carrier Safety Assistance Program grant awards.
Funding supports safety inspections of large trucks and buses, investigations of motor carriers in response to safety concerns, and audits of new truck carriers and bus companies to reinforce responsible operation and ensure the safe movement of goods and passengers.
“Across the entire country, we are making our roadways safer and strengthening our national supply chains with resources made possible by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law,” said U.S. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg. “The funding we’re announcing today will help our local safety partners invest in initiatives that will continue this important work and make our roadways safer.”
