Researchers have developed virtual traffic lights which disappear once a junction is crossed
Being stuck in traffic is one of the most infuriating experiences for a driver, but researchers at Carnegie Mellon University may have found a solution. They claim they can reduce the commute times of urban workers by 40% by replacing physical traffic lights with virtual traffic lights.
Fleetmatics offers global telematics reporting, with great flexibility at the user level. So you can easily get metrics that make sense throughout different regions around the world.
There's a simple device that provides for easy and inexpensive fleet tracking, and it provides valuable insights into engine performance and driver behavior.
Fleets feeling the brunt of the trend
Automotive technology is a two-edged sword. While it’s making vehicles safer and more fuel -efficient, it’s also driving up the cost of accident repairs at a rate faster than the general rate of inflation, a trend that is likely to continue for the foreseeable future. That makes it more important than ever for fleet managers to make every effort to manage the collision repairs closely for cost control and to uncover opportunities for savings.

Addressing unsafe driving behavior is a top priority for most fleets - if an unsafe driver causes an accident, the fleet will be held liable. Fleets often look to a driver's motor vehicle record (MVR) to determine if that driver has a safe driving history. However, many tickets, such as red-light and speed camera violations, do not appear on MVRs in most states, creating a significant blind spot, or liability gap, for the fleet.
