Self-Driving Cars Becoming More Acceptable to Americans
A new study from AAA indicates that American drivers are becoming more trusting of autonomous technologies.
In early 2017, 78 percent of drivers felt that they would be afraid to ride in a fully self-driving vehicle. That number has dropped to 63 percent in this year's annual survey.
“Americans are starting to feel more comfortable with the idea of self-driving vehicles,” AAA Automotive Engineering and Industry Relations Director Greg Brannon said. “Compared to just a year ago, AAA found that 20 million more U.S. drivers would trust a self-driving vehicle to take them for a ride.”

What Happens to the Gas Stations When Electric Cars Hit the Highways?
A new “Get Pumped” program by athletic shoe and apparel manufacturer Reebok and global architecture and design firm Gensler, will re-develop gas stations into roadside "fitness hubs", where motorists can stop to enjoy a healthy meal, get some exercise, and “prioritize their mental and physical wellness.
It has been predicted that more than 71 million autonomous vehicles will be transporting us from here to there by 2030.
“We envision our cities of the future to have a network of fitness oases between home and work where you could stop and recharge more than just your car,” says Alfred Byun, a designer at Gensler. “Imagine an option to leave the traffic jam to unwind with yoga, get your Crossfit fix, or pick up a green juice and your weekly farm share all in one place.”

“Thousands” of Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid Self-Driving Minivans Being Ordered by Waymo
In addition to its future order, Waymo has already converted 600-plus Pacifica vans to self-driving vehicles that are being used to test out the software in more than two dozen cities.
Waymo and FCA haven't said how many thousands of minivans will be added to the driverless car fleet, however.
"With the world’s first fleet of fully self-driving vehicles on the road, we’ve moved from research and development, to operations and deployment," said Waymo CEO John Krafcik. "The Pacifica Hybrid minivans offer a versatile interior and a comfortable ride experience, and these additional vehicles will help us scale."
