Few people pay close attention to the traffic situation unfolding around them when they’re travelling as a passenger in a car, even if they’re in the front seat. And that could make partially automated vehicles, which are operating on our roads right now, problematic.
Level 2 automated vehicles, partially automated vehicles are capable of controlling steering, acceleration and deceleration, require a human driver to remain on standby when the vehicle is in autonomous mode. That means paying close attention to the driving environment, and taking back control of the vehicle if required.

SOUTH PORTLAND, MAINE (Sept. 26, 2018)—WEX Inc., a leading global provider of corporate payment solutions, is expanding its presence in Canada with its announcement today that it has integrated with Moneris Solutions Corporation (“Moneris”), Canada’s largest processor of debit and credit payments.
The partnership will allow petroleum-based businesses to accept WEX fleet cards using Moneris’ PetroTrak® point-of-sale (POS) and fleet management solution.
Bryan Salesky is a 38-year-old blue-collar engineer and co-founder of Argo AI, a self-driving startup that has been entrusted with $1 billion by Ford Motor Co. The investment is Ford’s way of trying to catch up to Alphabet Inc.’s Waymo and General Motors Co. in the driverless race. Ford took a majority stake in Argo last year and expects to deploy autonomous vehicles running its system by 2021.
Ford's Chief Executive Officer Jim Hackett says Salesky’s work is “as important” to Ford as the invention of the internal combustion engine was more than a century ago. “This is going to be essential to the future vitality of vehicles. That’s why I’m making an effort to talk to and see Bryan often.”
