Ford
The Chicago Police Department has ordered 200 “pursuit-rated” hybrid police SUVs from Ford, joining New York and Los Angeles police departments in buying the new Ford Hybrid Police Interceptors.
The vehicles will be delivered to the CPD by April 2020 and deployed on Chicago streets by August.
Chicago police will pay around $56,000 for each hybrid vehicle, though some will cost less. The deal is worth about $9.6 million, said Howard Ludwig, CPD public information officer. The base price for the vehicles without any options for law enforcement agencies starts at $37,000.

A record crowd of 215 fleet professionals gathered to hear the latest on a wide range of approaches to improved fleet safety at the Network of Employers for Traffic Safety’s 2019 Strength in Numbers Annual Benchmark Conference, held on October 10 and 11 in Arlington, Virginia.

Campaign to launch before year-end

The Network of Employers for Traffic Safety’s (NETS’) upcoming Drive Safely Work Week campaign, a recurring fleet safety program that provides employers with a toolkit to promote safe driving, will focus on the link between roadway crashes and driver health and well-being, the organization revealed last week.
NETS Executive Director Joe McKillips announced the campaign theme at the organization’s record-setting 2019 Strength in Numbers Annual Benchmark Conference, held over two days last week in Arlington, Virginia.
