May 2, 2022 - The all-new Ford F-150 Lightning boasts the Built Ford Tough brawn to tow up to an available 10,000 pounds with its 775 lb.-ft. of electric torque. The truck’s brains will give customers the range information they need to tow long distances with the confidence they’re accustomed to.
Ford-exclusive technologies work seamlessly to give customers more accurate vehicle range estimates based on actual towing experiences and real-time energy use.
Every F-150 Lightning customer will get a Ford Mobile Power cord charger, which gives them 120- or 240-volt AC charging with easy, portable charge connectivity wherever they go. Extended range F-150 Lightning customers will also receive an 80-amp Ford Charge Station Pro, which they can install at home or work.
The growing uptake of electric vehicles across Europe is leading to the development of multi-cycle leasing as OEMs and leasing companies look to keep control of the valuable battery within the EV.
Such developments increasingly require sophisticated, flexible, smart software capable of managing subsequent leases of the same asset.
So says Ghent-based automotive finance, leasing, fleet and mobility management software provider, Sofico, as growing numbers of OEMs look to offer used-vehicle leases on EVs as a strategy to keep control over the highly valuable batteries which may have longer shelf lives than the vehicle itself.
May 6, 2022 - Average new auto loan rates have moved up about 70 basis points year to date. Average used auto loan rates have increased about 75 basis points.
Jessica Caldwell, analyst for Edmunds.com, noted, “We can expect a more significant ripple effect on the used side, where more buyers pay market rates that are generally not subsidized. With used car prices already at record highs, the interest rate hike will only make this market more expensive. Some buyers will be forced to sit out entirely or buy an older vehicle to keep payments within an affordable range.”
May 4, 2022 - Safety View by GM Future Roads and INRIX is a cloud-based application that gives insights using crash, vehicle and vulnerable road user information. The application became available to departments of transportation at the beginning of this quarter. Safety View will have a subscription pricing model.
“General Motors has outlined a vision for a world with zero crashes, zero emissions and zero congestion, and each day we take a critical step forward in turning that vision into reality,” said Alan Wexler, GM senior vice president, strategy and innovation, in a statement.
The automaker last year introduced GM Future Roads, a technology platform focused on providing data analytics for insights to create safer roadways. Transportation professionals can get access to Safety View's safety and demographic datasets and use data to identify hazardous roadway sections.
