At the end of 2022, Volkswagen Group had installed more than one-third of the 45,000 EV chargers that it intends to install by 2025 – that’s around 15,000 EV chargers with a charging capacity of up to 350 kW.
VW is planning for around 10,000 of its EV chargers – what it calls “high-power charging points,” in corporate speak – to be online in Europe, and up to 25,000 in total globally by the end of 2023.
Electrify America (EA) is in charge of VW Group’s electric infrastructure in the US. EA’s website says it currently has 3,551 fast and Level 2 EV chargers online and that 90 are “coming soon.” It’s going to take quite an effort for VW and EA to reach its North American goal of 10,000.

You can easily plug in your electric car, walk away, and let the battery recharge — much like your mobile phone. While EV charging is safe when using the right equipment, you must follow some steps to help ensure the car’s battery health and your own well-being.
A damaged charger is an unsafe charger, one that could cause harm to you or your EV when plugging it in.
It is crucial to stay on top of any safety recalls for your vehicle, especially if the problem is related to the car’s battery, which is the most expensive component.
BlueCruise is what’s known as an active driving assistance (ADA) system. In the simplest terms, ADA is the simultaneous use of a car’s adaptive cruise control (ACC) to control speed and lane centering assistance (LCA) to control steering.
The 12 active driving assistance systems Consumer Reports tested were put through their paces. Each system was rated for its performance in 40 separate tests, such as steering the car, controlling the speed, and keeping the driver safe and engaged with the act of driving. Additional features such as automatic lane changes or reacting for traffic lights were not evaluated in this test.
CR testers evaluated the way each of the 12 systems performed within five specific categories: capability and performance, keeping the driver engaged, ease of use, clear when safe to use, and unresponsive driver.
