BYD Motors, Cox Automotive Announce Groundbreaking Service Partnership in U.S. Market
BYD Motors and Cox Automotive have entered into a service agreement that covers BYD customers and their growing fleets of class 6 and class 8 trucks within the United States.
“Cox Automotive is driven to lead America’s fleet industry in the electric vehicle transformation, working alongside innovative companies like BYD Motors with a shared mission to create a more sustainable fleet future,” said Kevin Clark, AVP of Vehicle Operations, Cox Automotive Fleet Services.
Chester County’s Fleet Management Program Sees $1.3 Million Savings Since 2016
Chester County Government saw approximately $1.3 million in savings since moving to the Enterprise Fleet Management Program just over six years ago. The move to the fleet management program, with the fleet leased rather than owned, also means that the County’s 130 leased vehicles are newer, safer and more fuel efficient.
According to the report provided to the County by Enterprise Fleet Management, the original 10-year projected savings to the County was nearly achieved in five years.
TuSimple Study Demonstrates Autonomous System Fuel Efficiency Improvements
TuSimple announced publication and results of its recent On-Road Maneuver Performance Study, revealing increased fuel efficiency improvements associated with autonomous driving systems. Findings show TuSimple’s Level 4 (L4) autonomous technology averaged an 11% overall fuel efficiency advantage over manually driven trucks, and in certain situations the advantage was as high as 27%.
“Across the trucking industry, fleets and shippers are seeking ways to reduce fuel costs and limit greenhouse gas emissions for on-road vehicles, so we set out to evaluate how our L4 autonomous technology could help meet these objectives,” said Cheng Lu, president and CEO, TuSimple. “While there is general industry consensus that autonomous vehicles’ smoother and more preemptive driving patterns can offer safety benefits, we now can clearly demonstrate the technology also reduces fuel consumption, which is better for the bottom line and the environment.”
