How can you find good cars for inexperienced drivers to enjoy? Should the car you choose for your teen driver have excellent safety scores, impressive fuel mileage, good driving manners, or the latest tech? Among the good new cars for new drivers, you’ll find some of these characteristics in each model chosen for this list.
The 2019 Mazda 3 is one of the best new first cars for teens to have a great vehicle on the road. The hatchback model looks sportier than the sedan, but both offer a bit of “zoom zoom” with the SkyActiv powertrain and impressive handling.
One of the best parts of owning an EV is that you can have a fueling station in the convenience of your home. If you have access to home charging, that also means you can sidestep a lot of the commotion and confusion over the availability, quality, and creativity of public charging options.
Your decision points are pretty straightforward. Home charging is a choice between Level 1 and Level 2. L1 is simple. It doesn't require special setup or come with a lot of frills. But if you decide charging at a rate of a few miles per hour just isn’t enough for you, the whole discussion shifts over to L2. At that point, you have a number of choices to make about the kind of charger you want and whether and how much to invest in electrical upgrades.
The cost of new and used cars and trucks is rising, and so is the cost of owning and operating a vehicle. And with one purported benefit to electric vehicles being lower running costs, it only makes sense that at least a portion of people shopping for a new-to-them vehicle would be considering something battery powered.
No surprise there. CarMax says, "Search volume for terms containing 'electric' on CarMax.com have doubled since this time last year." Around 40% of those traded-in vehicles are SUVs, further reinforcing the idea that buyers are interesting in cutting ownership costs, with Toyota being the brand traded in most often for an EV.
