A One-Stop Shop for EV Charging Station Needs

Rexel Energy Solutions is one source providing multiple solutions for EV charging stations - not only the charger, but also transformers, the conduit, the wire and everything else you need.

Here’s the How Many Public EV Charging Ports the US Has Now

The Joint Office reports that there are now more than 183,000 Level 2 and DC fast charging ports across the US – that’s an increase of more than 13,000 public EV charging ports in the last quarter. (If we only count DC fast chargers, there are 43,152 charging ports and 10,662 locations.)

Thirty-six states have released at least their first round of National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) solicitations. Of these states, 23 have issued conditional awards or established agreements for more than 550 charging station locations, each with at least four fast charging ports. And four states – Maine, Pennsylvania, Colorado, and Ohio – are already in Round 2 of releasing conditional awards.

Volkswagen to Develop Low-Cost Electric Car to Tackle Chinese Rivals

Volkswagen will develop low-cost electric vehicles in a bid to better compete with fierce Chinese rivals, Europe's largest carmaker said on Tuesday, after talks with Renault to team up on the project collapsed earlier this month.

The target is to produce electric vehicles for the European market priced at around 20,000 euros ($21,746), Volkswagen said, adding that a world premiere was planned for 2027.

"It's about entry-level electric mobility from Europe for Europe," Volkswagen Chief Executive Oliver Blume said in a statement. "In doing so, we combine a clear commitment to Europe as an industrial location, a European industrial policy and ultimately act in the interests of European customers."

UK Study: Hybrids and EVs are Much More Likely to Hit a Pedestrian

Pedestrian deaths in the United States have climbed dramatically over the past five years. A recent study in the UK showed that hybrids and EVs are twice as likely to strike pedestrians than vehicles with combustion engines and up to three times more likely to do so in urban areas.

They are quieter than gas cars, making it more difficult to hear one approaching, despite being required to generate a sound at lower speeds. They also tend to be driven by younger drivers with less experience. While this study took place in the UK, a 2017 study from the U.S. Department of Transportation showed that EVs and hybrids present a 20 percent than internal combustion-powered cars, a risk that rises to 50 percent during low-speed maneuvers.
