Michael Bennet is the self-proclaimed greatest living car salesman in a filmed documentary from director John Landis. The movie--made for the Independent Film Channel--was produced by Chris Kobin, a former used-car salesman and follows Bennet over a holiday sale in a Memphis used-car lot. Critics say the film portrays Bennet and the used-car industry in a poor light.
Seventy-five percent of 251 logistics managers surveyed believe that the new hours-of-service regulations are responsible for rising costs an average of thirteen and one-half percent. Sixty-six percent of the carriers are imposing more and higher surcharges for load detention or multiple stops. Twenty-nine percent of logistics managers are switching from full truckloads to rail and intermodal.
