Study: These are the Best Models to Buy Used
Despite the extreme volatility in pricing over the last few years, used cars are still an excellent way to save money on your next vehicle purchase. Consumer Reports (CR) recently compiled a list of the best used car models, polling its members to determine the vehicles with the strongest reliability and other attributes, and some of the higher-ranked models might surprise you.
It’s a little surprising to see vehicles like the Chevy Cruze top their segments, but CR generated its rankings by evaluating a range of criteria beyond basic factors like reliability. The publication evaluated ride quality, acceleration, fuel economy and advanced driver assistance systems, noting that the Cruze has a smooth ride and a spacious interior. At the same time, other models ranked highly for reliability and tech equipment.

AFLA’s President’s Awards are given at the discretion of the elected president, for those who have gone above and beyond to advance AFLA and the corporate fleet management profession.
This year's winners are Heidi DiAngelo, Laura Jozwiak, Judie Nuskey and Peter Young.
AFLA president, Matthew Betz, announced the awards stating, “It is my privilege and honor to be able to recognize these four individuals for their strong commitment to both AFLA and the corporate fleet industry, and to thank them for their time, talents and efforts towards supporting and furthering the mission of AFLA.”
Back on the Road, But Safer?
The AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety released its 2023 American Driving Survey, providing insights into U.S. daily driving trends after the initial impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. The survey reveals that overall driving patterns have rebounded from the depths of the pandemic.
The survey raises concerns as nearly 40% of trips involve vehicles older than ten years. These vehicles often lack modern safety features and may be in poorer mechanical condition, potentially contributing to a higher risk of crashes. Those living in the Midwest, West, and South were likelier to drive older vehicles than those in the Northeast. Teenagers and those with lower education are more likely to drive older vehicles.
