ChargePoint today announced an AI-powered driver support tool to rapidly accelerate the diagnosis and repair of charging stations in the field.
The software utilizes AI for the first time in the EV charging space to identify physical charger issues, thereby improving their uptime. The software is the latest deliverable of ChargePoint’s ongoing investment in charging station reliability.
“By deploying AI technology that can diagnose hardware issues, ChargePoint has a critical new tool joining our Network Operations Center to ensure station uptime,” said Rick Wilmer, CEO of ChargePoint. “This technology will enable us to triage and resolve physical issues that cannot not be detected via remote monitoring, demonstrating our commitment to innovations which deliver a reliable charging network.”
It's a good time to start shopping for a new electric vehicle as many sat idle on dealer lots. At the end of July, it took dealers an average of 81 days — nearly three months — to sell the EVs that arrived in their showrooms.
That's up 75% from the same month a year ago, and a much longer stay on dealer lots compared to the industry average of 57 days before being sold.
In addition to the slow turn rate for EVs, there are also a lot more of these cars piling up than gas-powered cars. Dealers at the end of July had enough battery-powered vehicles to last dealers about 100 days, compared to a 68-day supply of all other powertrains, according to day-supply data from Cox Automotive.
Ridecell’s technology helped a customer’s fleet predict and manage EVs based upon delivery needs by assigning vehicles for specific routes based upon battery health and charging status.
Ascension, the Black Fleet Network’s Leadership Development Experience event in Atlanta, will address unique challenges of minority professionals in the fleet industry that traditional programs might overlook.
