Chrysler will have 16 new or revamped models for 2011, and dealers are optimistic after getting a sneak peek. As a treat, No. 17 was a hint at the 2012 Viper. Dealers got to see upgraded interiors, new engines and other features. The presentation was headed by CEO Sergio Marchionne.
The August Manheim Used Vehicle Value Index was 118.8, up 2.1% over last year. However, Manheim officials reported August was the third straight month the index dropped, noting the 121.0 high point in May.
ADESA Analytical Services suggests lower used-vehicle sales in August may well be the result of consumers and dealers backing away from rising used-vehicle prices. New vehicles are more appealing now as used vehicle volumes decline both at auction and on dealer lots.

Drivers must know where the closest charging station is located, just in case, and may need to make a reservation for a charging berth.
Toyota suffered a 16% drop in its brand value, according to an Interbrand study. But officials say Toyota's reputation for innovation and reliability is helping the company weather the downturn spurred by recalls. The study notes that only Harley-Davidson and BP did worse in the annual survey.
