Increasing Efforts to Curb Distracted Drivers
The National Safety Council estimates that at least 1.6 million crashes, 28 percent of the total, are caused each year by drivers using cellphones or texting. Those crashes are sometimes deadly. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reported that in 2008, approximately one in six fatal vehicle collisions resulted from a driver being distracted.
ALTe, Manheim Partnering on High Mileage Fleet Plug-in Conversions

High-Tech Shutters Come to Eco Model Cars
High-tech shutters on new cars are mechanisms that are sandwiched between the car's grille and radiator and are controlled by the car's engine computer. The computer uses several factors to decide whether the shutter slats should be open, closed or somewhere in between. When open, the car can breathe better on hot days or under stress. When closed, the car becomes more aerodynamic, trapping or disrupting less air and increasing fuel mileage up to 2%.
ARI Partners with Telogis for GPS-Based Fleet Management
Automotive Resources International (ARI) has joined with Telogis to provide a seamless fleet management experience for its customers. Telogis combines handheld and installed GPS systems tied to SAAS software to provide planning, weather, traffic and location-based intelligence. With over 750,000 vehicles in the U.S., ARI is combining Telogis' technology with ARI's Insight fleet management program to provide a complete operational and fleet management program.
