Lucid’s Modified Air Pursuit EV Police Cruiser Will Catch You if You Try to Run
A modified version of Lucid’s Air EV was recently tested by the California Highway Patrol. The fierce-looking “Lucid Pursuit” will catch you if you try to run with unrivaled range and performance.
Lucid’s Air Sapphire can hit 0 to 60 mph in just 1.89 seconds. That’s faster than the Porsche 918 Spyder (2.1 secs), Buggati Bolide (2.17 secs, and Ferrari SF90 XX Stradale (2.3 secs). Basically, you won’t be outrunning one of these with your average (or even a not-so-average) car.
The 2025 Lucid Air Pure is “the World’s most efficient car,” with a record efficiency rating of 5 mi/kWh. It also has the highest MPGe rating of any EV, with 146 MPGe from the EPA.
Auto Market Weekly Summary
The auto industry is experiencing a notable upswing, with new light-vehicle sales up 10.6% year over year in October.
Fleet sales saw a mixed performance, with large rental fleet sales up 52.5% year over year, commercial fleet sales down 7.6%, and government fleet sales up 8.7%. The estimated fleet share of 13.9% was down compared to last year’s share of 15.9%.
Wholesale used-vehicle prices were down month over month and year over year in October, according to the Manheim Used Vehicle Index (MUVVI). Wholesale vehicle values declined 0.1% in October on a seasonally adjusted basis, as the MUVVI declined to 202.8, down 3.2% from a year ago.
