Ford engineers are beginning to use three-dimensional mapping technology to examine rear axle parts installed in the manufacturer’s F-series pickups during assembly, according to the automaker. “[This] technology is the next evolution in quality control for our commercial trucks,” said David Gravel, an engineer in Ford’s advanced manufacturing group.
NHSTA has just stated that it will be conducting an intensive study on the safety consequences of autonomous drivers in order to provide guidance to states on how best to regulate them. Until the study is completed, NHSTA is requesting that states be careful about imposing too many specific guidelines on this rapidly changing technology.
