Midsize cars was the leading used vehicle sales segment in California, Florida, and Ohio during July, and full-sized pickups topped the list in Texas. The Toyota Camry, Honda Civic, and Nissan Altima led the used-car market in July for dealerships in California, while Texas saw strong sales in pickups from the Big 3. Cross-Sell provided the data to Auto Remarketing from its “Snap Shots” data reports that breaks out retail sales data in four of the largest states in its data set.
The average price of late-model used cars increased just $15 in August to $22,193, a gain of less than a tenth of a percent compared to July, according to Cars.com. Luxury vehicles saw the biggest numbers on both prices increases and decreases.
The Volvo S60 sedan saw the biggest August price drop as its price slipped 3% to $28,214. Three more luxury models — the Mercedes-Benz S-Class, Land Rover Range Rover and BMW Z4 — were next with price declines of 2%. As for increases, the Infiniti QX56 and BMW 528i led the way with prices edging up 2%.
