The Australian division of global automotive finance, leasing and fleet software provider, Sofico, has celebrated its 15th birthday with a special forum themed ’The Future of Fleet’ for fleet operators in the region, followed by a sunset cruise around Sydney Harbour.
The forum was attended by representatives from major Australian fleets with more than 350,000 vehicles under management, who heard news of exciting new developments for Sofico’s Miles software platform.
CLM Fleet Management has appointed highly experienced automotive executive, John Lawrence, as its new managing director. Lawrence has over 23 years’ experience in the automotive industry with roles encompassing daily rental, vehicle manufacturing, fleet services, and technology.
Lawrence said he was very excited by the prospect of leading CLM and by the plans for its continued and ongoing development, which he said had ‘tremendous potential and was totally scalable’.

U.S. car buyers now have access to real-world fuel economy and emissions data on new vehicles, courtesy of a research group that helped reveal that Volkswagen was evading European emissions regulations in addition to cheating on U.S. tests.
Among the results, according to Nick Molden, founder and CEO of Emissions Analytics:
• Some brands — Ford, Fiat, Porsche and Mini — routinely score as much as 10% better in real-world driving than the window-sticker fuel-economy ratings generated in lab tests.
