Geotab’s Telematics Technology Now on All Seven Continents
British Antarctic Survey selects Geotab telematics to increase safety of researchers on Antarctic ice shelves
London, UK – April 24, 2018 Geotab today announced that it is the first leading global telematics provider to be present in all seven continents. Selected by the British Antarctic Survey (BAS) to support its diverse fleet of vehicles in Antarctica, Geotab’s telematics solution will be used to automatically report location and to help improve driver safety.
BAS researchers track changes in critical Antarctic glaciers in order to better understand future sea level rise. An essential part of the research logistics is the large fleet of vehicles, including snowmobiles, which BAS relies on to help carry out scientific programmes across the harsh and constantly changing conditions of the Antarctic. To ensure the fleet remains reliable and succeeds in supporting vital environmental research operations in temperatures that can drop to minus forty degrees celsius, Geotab GO devices have been deployed across a number of BAS vehicles.
LeasePlan USA Announces Partnership with MileIQ
Clients of LeasePlan USA will be able to take control of their fleet’s mileage reimbursement costs through a new partnership with MileIQ, a Microsoft-owned company.
Under the service agreement, LeasePlan clients will be able to leverage a new solution for employees who drive their personal vehicles for business purposes.
Through the MileIQ app, drivers will be able to quickly and easily:
- auto-detect when a trip starts and ends using the phone’s GPS and accelerometer.
- categorize trips as personal, business or passenger.
- classify the purpose (airport, meet client, vacation, etc.) of their trip.
- combine trips into one or more trips per day.
- modify or delete a trip.
- record parking and toll fees per trip.
Bob White Named President of ARI, Executive Appointments Announced
Company veterans tapped to lead the fleet and automotive services group's plans for growth
ARI® and its parent company Holman Enterprises announced a series of executive appointments today designed to strengthen the company’s position as an integrated provider of B2B automotive and fleet related services. Company veteran Bob White has been named as President of ARI. He will be supported by a newly named team of ARI executive vice presidents.
Over a near 30 year career at ARI, White has held a number of progressive leadership positions including Vice President of Operations, and most recently Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer. He will now be responsible for all ARI operations globally, including the US, Canada, Germany, the UK, and Mexico.
Element Experts Anticipate Fleet Costs to Rise in 2018 – Gas, Tires and Interest Rates Were Factors in 2017 Total Cost of Ownership Increase
Higher fuel prices and tire costs contributed to a marked increase in the total cost of car and truck fleets in 2017, according to the third annual Element Fleet Management (TSX: EFN) Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) Index.
The Element TCO Index is a study that looks at major cost categories affecting businesses with car and truck fleets. It’s designed to help fleet, mobility and business managers understand how the changing economy impacts annual fleet ownership costs. The Index is published annually each spring, providing metrics from the previous year.
