The private sector is an essential stakeholder to help deliver on the target of improving global road safety. During this webinar, join us to learn more about the role of the private sector in achieving the goal of the Decade of Action for Road Safety 2021 - 2030 to halve road traffic deaths and injuries by 2030.
September 13, 2022 - Today, Electrify America announced plans to install 30 electric fleet-dedicated chargers paired with battery energy storage systems (BESS) at the Port of Long Beach, California, as part of Electrify America’s $25 million “Green City” investment in the region at the Ports of Long Beach and Los Angeles.
Teaming with trucking company 4 Gen Logistics, Electrify America is building on its commitment to provide charging infrastructure to the City of Long Beach to support 4 Gen’s 60 electric trucks conducting drayage operations in Southern California.
Onsite, behind-the-meter battery energy storage systems (BESS) will be installed at the Port of Long Beach to further facilitate the fleet-dedicated charging infrastructure. The battery energy storage systems store power when electricity costs are low and supplement power during high points of consumption, minimizing impact on the electrical grid and mitigating demand surges.
September 7, 2022 - As vehicles become more connected with centralized systems, each other, and the outside world, it becomes clear that cybersecurity is more relevant for the cars of today than ever before.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration published a set of best practices for automakers to follow when building new vehicles and the software stacks that underpin them. The areas that the NHTSA calls for automakers to protect against are Lidar and radar jamming, GPS spoofing, road sign modification, camera blinding, and the excitation of machine learning false positives.
Vehicles with over-the-air (OTA) update capabilities are also on the NHTSA's radar. Further, the NHTSA urges automakers to consider general cybersecurity concerns, such as insider threats, man-in-the-middle attacks, protocol vulnerabilities, and compromised servers.
September 10, 2022 - Nissan has been doing vehicle-to-grid trials with Fermata Energy and has approved the first ever bi-directional charger for mass-market use with a Nissan LEAF.
“Ideal for companies with fleet vehicles, the Fermata Energy Demand Charge Management application, along with the FE-15 charger, continuously monitors a building’s electrical loads, and may draw on the Nissan LEAF’s energy to provide power to the building during more expensive high-demand periods. In states with utility demand response programs, bi-directional-enabled Nissan LEAF vehicles (MY2013 and later) are able to safely send energy stored in the battery to the grid during peak energy demand times, such as in summer months.”
It is great to simply have an option on the table for consumers who really want V2G tech.
