Britons who purchase a new Ford Mustang Mach-E this year will be able to drive it hands-free after the U.S. automakers' BlueCruise driver assistance system was authorized for use on motorways, the first system of its kind to be approved in Europe.
Launching its "hands-off, eyes-on" system Thursday, Ford said the Department of Transport had granted regulatory approval for its use on the country's 2,300-mile network of pre-mapped motorways.
The technology, which is free for the first 90 days on 2023 model electric Mustang Mach-E SUVs and thereafter on a $22.50 subscription, will steer, accelerate, brake the vehicle and react to road markings and traffic signs without any input from the driver.
Meals on Wheels of San Francisco (MOWSF) says it plans to electrify two-thirds of its fleet of meal delivery vehicles by 2027. The current fleet of 32 combustion vehicles covers almost 100,000 miles a year visiting thousands of homebound seniors daily.
By transitioning to EVs, the organization expects to reduce its carbon footprint by 50% and reduce maintenance and fuel costs by approximately 10%. MOWSF worked with CLEAResult, a provider of emission-reducing energy solutions, to develop a vehicle electrification five-year plan to replace 24 of the organization’s vehicles with refrigerated Ford eTransit vehicles by 2027.

Fleet Management Weekly recently had the opportunity to interview ServiceUp’s Chief Business Officer Mark Hodes, who spoke about how the company’s innovative solution is streamlining the maintenance and repair of fleet vehicles.
Established in late 2020, ServiceUp is quickly growing by making the fleet repair process faster and more convenient than ever. Their vertically-integrated software as a service (SaaS) helps fleet managers, drivers, and shops alike efficiently and cost-effectively manage all repair and maintenance tasks.
ServiceUp uses technology to manage the entire repair experience. Hodes says, "We shield the driver and the fleet manager from inefficiencies and deliver shorter cycle times to improve utilization. We do this across the entire fleet lifecycle from acquisition to disposal."
