China’s BYD found a new partner to cut EV costs and fuel adoption. As part of a massive new multi-year alliance, BYD is set to launch 100,000 EVs on Uber’s platform globally.
The EVs will launch in key global markets, starting with Europe and Latin America. The Middle East, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand will follow.
BYD’s EVs will be offered with “best-in-class pricing and financing” as the partnership aims to make going electric more affordable for Uber drivers. As a result, the alliance is expected to drive EV adoption on Uber’s platform.

AFLA announced newly-elected Secretary and Directors for the 2024-2025 Board of Directors term following the 2024 election by the members. The new Board of Directors are slated to begin their terms at the conclusion of the AFLA 2024 Annual Conference this September in San Antonio, TX.
Matthew Betz, AFLA President congratulated the newly elected Board members by saying, “We are privileged to have these individuals join our Board of Directors. Not only do they add a wide-ranging breadth of experience to our organization, but they are passionate about serving AFLA and bringing value to our members.“
Cox Automotive has reported a significant rise in the sales of used light commercial vehicles (LCVs) during the first half (H1) of 2024, marking a record-breaking period for the company's auction and vehicle services operations.
Between January and June, a total of 50,267 LCVs were handled by Manheim Auction Services and Manheim Vehicle Services.
Matthew Davock, director of Manheim Commercial Vehicles at Cox Automotive, said: “The flood of LCV product into the wholesale market seen during Q1 persisted throughout Q2 as many owner-operator, leasing and rental players continued to replace their ageing fleet assets.
