Chrysler took a positive turn for improvement in Consumer Reports testing, after years of not making the grade. The Dodge Durango and Charger are the two most improved vehicles out of eight new models the auto testing center is rating. All of the automakers new or refreshed vehicles are better than their predecessors reflecting much better attention to detail, said Consumer Reports? David Champion.
Ford's C-Max van will be the first hybrid-only vehicle Ford offers. It is intended to raise customer recognition for Ford as the Prius has done for Toyota. This is a change in strategy as Ford abandons plan to re-enter the minivan market. Plans are for sales of 100,000 by 2013 as customers continue to focus on fuel economy.
According to Fairfield city officials, CarMax has purchased two Auto Mall parcels and may open a dealership in the California community. Plans call for demolishing one showroom and renovating the other.
With insurers offering incentives to car owners to use anti-theft devices and automakers equipping more vehicles security devices, auto theft has dropped to its lowest level since 1967. Police department programs have also been part of the improvements, said National Insurance Crime Bureau.
Increasing unstable gasoline prices and the drive for fuel efficiency has prompted General Motors to invest $65 million into plants in New York and Tennessee. This will expand production of Ecotec four-cylinder engines used in Chevrolet?s most fuel-efficient cars and crossovers.
