ATC-Onlane will boost its network of delivery services with the acquisition of CarsArrive Network. Combined services will include more then 4,500 carriers with 30,000 trucks.

Toyota finds itself in an unusual position: defending its quality. The latest problem concerns the Tundra six-speed transmission. Some customers are complaining that the torque converter has problems disengaging during gearshifts. After early quality problems with the US-built truck, Toyota thought quality issues were behind them. In a further blow, Consumer Reports rated it "below average" in projected reliability. Detroit Automakers are gleeful.

California passed a bill toughening DUI penalties for those who kill someone in an accident while under the influence. Under the new law persons convicted could face 15 years to life in prison. The action was spurred by the death of a California lawmaker's staffer.
