Experts at CarInsurance.com recently compiled a list of 14 used cars that should be ideal for teen drivers, even though they’re not so interested in owning one. This may be of interest if you market to parents of teenagers about what used car might work best for them.
The list is based on 2009 model year cars valued at $15,000 or less by Edmunds.com; have EPA mileage ratings of 20 mpg or more in combined city/highway driving; do well on annual repair visits; and received the Top Safety Pick designation from Insurance Institute for Highway Safety for gaining top marks in crash tests.
Late model used cars have not been doing well, according to a Cars.com blog. Their prices fell steeply in June. For used cars listed on Cars.com the average prices of 2010 to 2012 model used cars fell to $22,188, or $320 less than in May. That brings in down to lowest level this year, and the preceding month had already seen the low for the year.
The Ram 2500 actually saw the largest dollar-amount decrease at $1,451. The Audi A6 luxury sedan, Toyota Camry Hybrid sedan and Ford E-250 Super Duty full-size van all saw a 4% price decrease.
