AFLA Mid-Year Forum: It Was a Very Good Day!

The Automotive Fleet & Leasing Association (AFLA) held its inaugural Mid-Year Forum on May 1st at The Enterprise Center at Burlington County College in Mount Laurel, NJ, a Philadelphia suburb. This one-day event was organized by the AFLA Education Committee as part of an ongoing initiative to add educational value for AFLA members.
Scott Pattullo, Senior Vice President of Sales, Wheels, kicked off the day leading a presentation and think tank discussion on “Fleet from 10,000 Feet: Where We’ve Been, Where We Are and Where We’re Going.” Combining his years of experience in the industry with a sense of humor, Scott’s presentation explored how the fleet industry has changed and the difficulties that we can expect to face in the coming months and years.
ARI Saved $378,000 for Energy Company NiSource
ARI has published a utility fleet management case study detailing how successful supply chain process improvements saved $378,000 for the regulated energy company NiSource.

Annual GE Capital Fleet Study Finds 4% Drop in Fleet Car Maintenance Costs
GE Capital Fleet Services announced the results of its 19th annual fleet passenger car maintenance study, which found that overall fleet car maintenance costs decreased by four percent in 2013 as compared to 2012. Maintenance costs include unscheduled repair services, preventative maintenance, tires and replacement rentals.
The study analyzed actual maintenance expenses incurred by nearly 37,000 passenger cars from January 1 to December 31, 2013. Research found monthly preventive maintenance expenses decreased 14 percent in 2013 and average vehicle maintenance costs decreased from $50.47 to $48.36 per vehicle per month.

OEMs See Demand for Trucks and Vans in Fleet Sales
NAFA President Claude Masters moderated the OEM panel at the NAFA Institute & Expo, which took place April 8-11 at the Minneapolis Convention Center. The panel discussion included fleet representatives from truck and car manufacturers and kicked off the second day of sessions at the conference.
“When we look at the commercial segment, we separate cars and utilities from trucks and vans,” said Fritz Ahadi, general manager for commercial and government fleet operations for Ford Motor Co. “Cars and utilities are steady, but there is a lot of demand for trucks and vans.”
