The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration denied hours-of-service rules exemptions for utilities and movie / TV production fleets, but allowed a temporary, backdoor reprieve from the new rules. The temporary reprieve expires in September.
The gas tank of a Missouri state highway patrolman’s Ford Crown Victoria was not to blame in a trooper’s death according to an investigation by the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration. The police cruiser burst into flames after being slammed from behind during a traffic stop. NHTSA says that the fire began after something unknown ignited gas from a filler tube, which was severed in the crash.
