The price of fuel was cited as a major factor in the 145% increase in tractor-trailer truck repossessions and liquidations nationwide during the fourth quarter of 2005. Another factor was the rise in volume of equipment leasing in 2005 vs 2004, resulting in an increased pool of equipment in the marketplace.
Jaguar plans to sharply reduce the number of vehicles returning from leases and fleets this year in an effort to increase the residual value of its used vehicles. Sales to Enterprise were cut last year, and deliveries to Hertz will end during the second quarter.
