A survey by Nationwide Mutual Insurance reveals that drivers perform lots of tasks in their cars but don't consider the activities driving distractions. However, driver distraction is estimated to cause or contribute to 25% to 50% of auto accidents.
In keeping with its go-to-market strategy, General Motors is significantly reducing sales to daily rental companies by as much as 25% over 2006 levels. Its goal is to improve residual values and reduce per-vehicle incentives. In 2006 GM sold 700,327 daily rental units and plans to sell 596,000 in 2007.
