Vehicle computer systems bring better fuel economy and reduced emissions while maintaining power and luxury, but they also contain a risk of faulty software. Toyota recalls so far are for mechanical problems with floor mats and sticking pedals but electronics are now under investigation.
January certified pre-owned (CPO) sales were down 22% from record-setting January 2009 numbers, but some brands reported gains. Lexus, Hyundai and Subaru were among the stronger brands while most others were soft.
