July was the best month for certified pre-owned sales in more than two years with 153,259 units sold. That's the highest level since May 2008 and a gain of 19% over July 2009. Numerous automakers set monthly records.
Traffic cameras are money makers for local governments and contractors in over 550 locations with fines of $25-$100. Other states and local governments have prohibited their installation. Broadside crashes have decreased 25% but rear-end crashes have increased 15% so safety impact is debatable. The issue has hit a political nerve in many places.
The two-pedal design common in vehicles, accelerator and brake, may lead to driver errors causing thousands of crashes annually. At least two single pedal designs are being tested in hopes of overcoming this problem.
