Nissan Motor Company cut production of its Titan pickup and SUVs built at US plants due to a bulging inventory of light trucks. Along with its Detroit rivals, Nissan has been hurt by the decreasing demand for large vehicles after last summer's sharp rise in gas prices.
Automakers originally installed vehicle tracking devices as safety features, but their usefulness now extends to police, insurance companies, and other legal representatives. Some states are starting to regulate the privacy issues surrounding these devices and determine who owns the information they generate.
