Nissan Moves Leaf to Smyrna, Tenn. and Drops Sticker Price
Nissan is dropping the price of its 2013 Leaf to $28,800 for the newly-added S grade, which can be purchased for as low as $18,800 with the $7,500 tax credit and rebates in various states. It also coincides with Nissan moving production of the Leaf to its Tennessee plant along with US production of the electric vehicle’s lithium ion batteries. Nissan says that the price reductions make it the lowest priced five-passenger electric vehicle sold in the US....
Toyota’s New Family of Prius Models Dominates ACEEE Greenest List
The Toyota Prius and its new family of counterparts dominated the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy’s (ACEEE) 15th annual comprehensive, “Greenest,” environmental ratings. The Toyota Prius C, the compact, highest mileage version of the Prius, took the top spot. The original Prius took number three, the new Prius Plug-in Hybrid took number four, and the larger Prius V took number 11 on the list. Consumers and fleets now have a wider, more impressive list of fuel efficient vehicle offerings as the aggressive national fuel economy standards have kicked in for model years 2012 to 2025....

NAFA Cheers for Extension of Alternative Fuels Excise Tax
Along with the tax incentive for fleets on equipment purchases that extended a “bonus dep¬re¬ca¬tion” that had expired on Dec. 31, there was more good news on resolution of the “fiscal cliff” crisis in Washington. NAFA Fleet Management Association applauded the bill signed into law on January 1 that contained the Extension of Alternative Fuels Excise Tax. This incentive helps just the use of biodiesel and alternative fuel vehicles for thousands of fleets. The bill included a continuation of a $1 per gallon tax credit for biodiesel and a $0.50 per gallon alternative fuel tax credit for natural gas and propane autogas throughout 2013....
