While NHTSA Administrator David Strickland did say that determining fault involving a crash from a driverless car “may be much more difficult when control of a vehicle seamlessly transitions from the driver to the vehicle,” it will likely take years of legal wrangling to sort out liability with self-driving cars. Strickland met with automotive and Google executives recently to discuss federal regulations for driverless cars.
