XL Hybrids, Inc. has introduced XL Link, a cloud-based data analytics system that measures key performance indicators, including MPG performance, and reports carbon dioxide emissions reductions in fleet gasoline-electric hybrids.
XL Link is currently measuring key performance indicators in vehicles equipped with XL3 Hybrid Electric Drive Systems for major fleets such as Boston, Yale University, AmeriPride Services, and Montgomery County, Md., according to the company.
“When fleets invest in alternative fuel technology, they want to make certain they are reducing their carbon footprint and making an impact with their sustainability efforts, which is why XL Link collects millions of vehicle operational data points to produce highly accurate reports fleets can rely on,” said Ed Lovelace, chief technology officer of XL Hybrids.
The XL Link wireless data connectivity system is installed in all customer fleet vehicles, and there is currently no additional fee for the service because it is included with all XL3 systems. The system does not impact fleets’ use of existing telematics devices or services, or fuel cards.
“At the request of several customers, we are expanding deployment with a beta version of the XL Link mobile app, which provides fleet managers with direct access to near-real-time updates on the performance of XL Hybrids vehicles in the field,” said Clay Siegert, co-founder and chief operating officer at XL Hybrids. “This app is in field testing with fleet customers across North America and XL Hybrids is increasing fleet participation.”
Through both the mobile app and the desktop dashboard, XL Link also provides fleet managers with data that includes an analytics summary of millions of vehicle operational data points per vehicle, and a continuous data link from any Ford, GM, or Isuzu commercial vehicle that XL3 is compatible on.
