Softening of the wholesale used vehicle sales and pricing environment stayed on course – rising seasonally but falling annually in April. It was similar to market conditions in March. Retail sales also were down year-over-year for the first time this year. Dealers were still able to see month-over-month sales growth and year-over-year uptick in CPO sales.

April Wholesale Prices Were up 0.7% from March, Down 4.5% from April 2012:
Largest monthly increases were concentrated in SUVs, corresponding to strong new SUV sales.
Dealer Consignors Saw Widest Gap – Up 2.2% from March but Down 6.4% from April 2012:
All three major auction seller groups saw seasonal uptick and annual downturn.
Retail UV Sales Down Year-Over-Year for Franchised and Independent Dealers:
Both dealer types saw more than 24% month-over-month increases.
