The Hourglass Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit and philanthropic arm of Flexco Fleet Services launched their first-ever “Triple Impact Challenge,” back on April 1, 2024. This was a fundraising initiative to raise $5,000 in 30 days to help support underserved students pursuing educational endeavors in Automotive Technology and other skilled trades programs through scholarship opportunities.
To make their fundraising efforts more achievable, Flexco Fleet Services, an industry leader in vehicle remarketing services, and Hop Drive, a vehicle transportation drive services company, both committed to matching dollar-for-dollar every contribution made to The Hourglass Foundation during the entire month of April – with match cap of $1,000 each. As momentum for the challenge increased, Hop Drive decided to up their match cap to $2,000 and Flexco followed suit—bringing the total match cap amount up to $4,000.
Additionally, NAFA Fleet Management Association’s CEO, Bill Shankel, was especially generous in helping by gifting The Hourglass Foundation a 10×10 booth space at NAFA I & E, where The Hourglass Foundation continued their Triple Impact Challenge fundraising efforts. NAFA also extended an invaluable invitation to The Hourglass Foundation’s Executive Director, Kim Davidson, to take part in one of the conference’s many educational sessions—this one entitled “Corporate Charitability, Core Values, and Mission in the Fleet Industry”.
Davidson, stated, “The exposure at NAFA I & E gave us an incredible level of visibility and allowed us to engage with potential donors and future Corporate Sponsors. We were extremely impressed by the outpouring of support from both attendees and exhibitors alike, raising a total of $1,500+ in donations during the conference alone. We were also thrilled to be able to take part in one of the conference’s educational sessions alongside Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Ohio, to speak about our mission and its impact on the fleet industry”.
By the end of April, The Hourglass Foundation’s Triple Impact Challenge was deemed a success and raised not only the intended $5,000, but a total of $10,053—double their original goal. According to Davidson, “The success was entirely due to the generous support of individual donors, and invaluable corporate contributors, including Flexco and Hop Drive. We were also able to onboard J3 Management Group as a new Corporate Sponsor, which we are beyond excited about.”
Davidson continued, “The $10,000+ that we raised in 30 days was built dollar-by-dollar, with the bulk of donations ranging between $25, $50, and $100—proving that every dollar really does make an impact to the greater whole.”
Since inception, The Hourglass Foundation has raised over $90,000+ in funding, which equates to helping over 80+ deserving students in their educational pursuits.
At The Hourglass Foundation, fundraising is a never-ending effort. Their ability to offer scholarship opportunities to underserved students is dependent on individual donors, corporate supporters, vehicle donations, and in-kind donations.
