Smith Electric Vehicles will be manufacturing electric vehicles in the city of Chicago as part of Mayor Rahm Emanuel’s $15 million incentive program. The mayor is confident it will create hundreds of direct and indirect jobs and boost the city’s already growing battery and electric vehicle sector. Chicago will be Smith’s third US location, along with its Kansas City headquarters and a new manufacturing facility in New York City. FedEx Express will be deploying 100 more of its battery trucks, and Coca-Cola will be adding a few more.
