The numbers are in and NAFA’s 2014 Institute & Expo (I&E) was a huge success, with nearly 700 fleet managers choosing it as the “must attend” fleet event of the year. Held April 8-11 in Minneapolis, MN, the I&E had nearly 3,000 people in attendance. But just as fleet keeps moving forward, so does NAFA, which is already looking towards next year’s conference in Orlando, FL. The Association is accepting presentations for educational sessions at the 2015 I&E until June 16.
Each year, NAFA reaches out to the fleet management community to identify the most vital topics and issues facing fleet professionals today to use as the base for the conference’s educational sessions. All NAFA Members and Affiliates are encouraged to recommend ideas for topics or suggest speakers and panelists for consideration.
“The Call for Presentations is what keeps NAFA’s I&E the most relevant and up-to-date education event in the fleet profession,” said NAFA Chief Executive Officer Phillip Russo, CAE. “By having this conversation with those who are out in the field, who are looking for answers to their most pressing fleet-related questions, we have confidence that we’re addressing their needs. This communication is at the heart of NAFA’s educational mission – it helps us deliver information that is by fleet managers for fleet managers.”
NAFA’s Curriculum Committee, comprised of volunteers who represent all segments of the fleet industry, receive the topics that have been submitted through the Call For Presentations process and determine the issues believed to be most significant to attendees.
Presentations are chosen based on the following criteria:
- Relevance to attendees
- A well-defined topic with focused objectives
- Practical application of material
- Timeliness of topic
- Original material
- Overall perceived level and quality of session content
- Completeness of presentation proposal
- Speaker qualifications, including: previous presentations in topic area, participant evaluations of presenter(s) at previous events (if applicable), and speaking experience of presenter(s)
Sales pitches for products or services submitted as proposals will be eliminated.
“It is NAFA’s responsibility to its membership to stay current and to provide the solutions and information that is pertinent to right now,” concluded Russo. “I encourage everyone to submit their proposals during this period, to help provide fleet managers the answers they need.”
