The FMCSA final rule revising the hours-of-service safety requirements for commercial truck drivers retains the current 11-hour driving limit but reduces the maximum number of hours a truck driver can work within a week to 70 hours and includes rest provisions. Violations of the rule by companies and drivers can result in fines and civil penalties.
