In January, the North American International Auto Show is expected to be flooded with downsized crossover-utility vehicles. These displays will include the Honda Urban SUV Concept, Lincoln MKC, and BMW X1. As fuel prices nudge up, small cars are rapidly gaining ground. B- and C- segment models have jumped from 13% of overall US models to 20% since 2005. The subcompact and compact crossover niches fit nicely with the trend.
