Colorado to Fund Fleet Purchases of Alternative Fuel Vehicles

NGT News

As part of the ALT Fuels Colorado program, the Regional Air Quality Council (RAQC) is requesting applications to fund fleet purchases of alternative fuel vehicles (AFVs). AFVs under this application include new original equipment manufacturer (OEM) compressed natural gas (CNG), electric, propane and CNG bi-fuel vehicles weighing 6,001 lbs or more.

Funding for AFV purchases is available for public, nonprofit and private fleets operating within Colorado’s ozone nonattainment and carbon monoxide maintenance areas.

These areas include Adams, Arapahoe, Boulder, Broomfield, Denver, Douglas and Jefferson counties, as well as parts of Larimer, Weld, El Paso and Teller counties.

Funding for AFVs for public and nonprofit fleets begin at $7,000 for a light-duty vehicle and go up to $35,000 for a heavy-duty vehicle. Caps for private fleets start from $3,000 for a light-duty vehicle and max out at $22,000 for a heavy-duty vehicle.

Noble Energy is also providing funding for CNG school buses for school districts in the ozone nonattainment area. School districts interested in this funding must first apply to RAQC’s ALT Fuels Colorado.

Applicants may submit written clarification questions to Kaylyn Bopp at [email protected] or (303) 629-5450, ext. 290, until Oct. 16, 5:00 PM MST. The RAQC will post questions and answers to its website at www.cleanairfleets.org on the ALT Fuels Colorado program page.
