Motus Taps New CEO to Drive Continued Transformation

EO Charging Appoints Richard Staveley as CEO

Motus, a leader in reimbursement solutions for the mobile workforce, announced the appointment of Phong Nguyen as Chief Executive Officer. In this role, Nguyen will guide the organization through its next stage of growth, continued market adoption and expansion of the Motus platform.

Nguyen brings more than 25 years of deep industry experience in driving transformation, innovation and growth in large technology companies. He most recently served as Chief Operating Officer of Accolade, Inc., where he helped grow the company through IPO and supported 600 customers and 10 million members across the US, creating a new personalized healthcare category. Prior to Accolade, Nguyen served on the Executive Team at Concur Technologies, the leading global travel and expense (T&E) platform which sold to SAP for $8.3B.

“Phong is an exceptional software leader with proven experience driving differentiated growth,” said John Mulflur, Principal at Permira and Motus board director. “His well-established record of developing outstanding products and expanding successful organizations make Phong the consummate leader for Motus’ next phase of growth.”

Nguyen’s appointment is the most recent strategic investment Motus has made to bolster its executive team and reinforce its commitment to the nearly 500,000 end users it services worldwide. Ryon Packer joined the company in March 2022 as its Chief Product Officer to drive product strategy and accelerate innovation. In October, Motus named Ryan Newsome its new Chief Technology Officer, tapped Christian Miller to serve as Chief Revenue Officer, and elevated Amanda Pettengill to Chief Customer Officer. The company also announced the appointment of Mitch Black to Executive Vice President and General Manager of Managed Mobility Services.

“The rich experience and complementary strengths of the Motus management team have enabled the company to successfully unite several tangential and naturally related market segments,” said A.J. Rohde, a Senior Partner at Thoma Bravo and Motus board director. “Phong’s ingenuity, work ethic and demonstrated ability to scale align with the core values of that team, and we’re thrilled to have him leading the organization moving forward.”

Established in 2004, Motus provides end-to-end, proprietary software to simplify the reimbursement and management of vehicle, device and remote work costs, and is a pioneer of the IRS-approved fixed and variable rate (FAVR) reimbursement methodology. The Motus platform currently supports more than 2,300 customers across 32 countries, including brands such as Bosch, National Grid, Yeungling, Papa John’s and Kellogg’s.

“I am delighted to join such a talented team and lead Motus through its next phase of growth and market-leading innovation,” said newly appointed CEO Phong Nguyen. “Motus is incredibly well-positioned to help organizations optimize mobile workforce spend, successfully navigate today’s inflationary market pressures, and attract and retain top talent.”
