Telematics has been a major theme at this year’s New York International Auto Show for a wide variety of vehicle types. Telematics News did its homework on the topic and found an interesting display of new technologies being used for vehicle and driver safety, convenience, and connectivity…
• The new Range Rover Sport enables customers to stay seamlessly connected to their vehicle, business and family lives. “Connected car” technology allows the driver to check the status of the vehicle via an App installed on their smartphone and also provides support features such as Stolen Vehicle Tracking, Emergency Call and Land Rover Assist Call.
• The new Honda Odyssey utilizes HondaLink, which enables Odyssey owners to connect quickly and easily to a wealth of cloud-based content. The Odyssey Touring Elite will also come equipped with advanced Honda driver assistive and visibility technologies.
• The updated Toyota Highlander options include the Entune multimedia system and the Safety Connect services. The new Highlander includes a standard Display Audio which also comes with an Integrated Backup Camera, or an optional 8-inch touch screen Navigation with Entune multimedia system.
• The new Audi A3 features new, segment-first technologies. One example is the implementation of the new NVIDIA graphics processing unit (GPU). The NVIDIA GPU generates complex three-dimensional images used in all online, voice control, media navigation and telephone functions.
• Mini announced at the auto show that four new partners will provide integrated Apple iPhone apps for Mini Connected, MINI’s flexible and innovative infotainment platform. The new apps will also be available to BMW drivers through their iDrive units.
