CPO: Certified pre-owned vehicle sales climbed nearly 10% in volume in January and February over a year ago, according to Autodata Corp. Last month saw the best ever February for CPO sales and the strongest daily selling rate ever.
Retail Used Sales: Retail used vehicle sales volume could see the highest number since 2002, according to CNW Research (see news story below). Franchised dealers are having an especially strong month.
Days’ Supply and Incentives: Average number of days needed to sell new vehicles rose to 64 at February’s end, the most seen since August 2009, Bloomberg said. Incentives increased more than 8% in both January and February, according to analyst Kevin Tynan.
Gasoline Prices: reached their recent peak in mid-to-late February of 2013, with a national average around $3.70 to $3.74. Prices dipped slightly in March and have been hovering around $3.68 per gallon. During the past two years, the national price of gasoline peaked sometime in April to early May.
