National Teen Driver Safety Week takes place from October 16-22, 2016.
AAA surveyed driving instructors to compile a list of the top mistakes teen drivers make when learning to drive:
- Poor Visual Scanning: Driving with tunnel vision and not properly scanning the road for risks or hazards.
- Speeding: Traveling over posted speed limits.
- Distraction: Interacting with a cell phone, talking with passengers or looking at other objects in the vehicle.
The AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety also has compiled a fact sheet summarizing the key findings and trends of recent foundation research on the subject.
Finally, here is a handy chart listing individual state laws applying specifically to teen drivers regarding supervised driving, passenger restrictions, as well as wireless and text messaging bans.
